Holidays Without You

This morning it was raining when I woke up. I tried to be happy about the holiday season, the mac and cheese, the fresh coquito, the pernil in the oven, arroz con gandules. Every year smells the same, but this year feels significantly different. You’re not here, to post your food, to invite me over, to text me happy thanksgiving. I can’t call you or text you, I can only look up and smile, think about the great times and conversations we had when you were here. Life feels  emptier, the world feels hollow; with every raindrop that falls I feel the world shift, the wind is colder. I miss you beyond words, my heart aches a different ache. As much as I deny, I feel it all on some days, especially on days like this that I know you’d enjoy so much. It never feels real, but it always hurts more. Sometimes I like to think you were just a part of a beautiful dream, or that I’m living in a nightmare, whatever it is, I refuse to believe this is real. Sometimes when I sit in silence, it still s...

Amour Propre

Hey Icees, I hope you all had a fabulous week! Todays blog? Self worth .  A lot goes into what makes you who you are. Your race, nationality, culture, family, genes, trauma, life experiences are all huge parts of your identity. But, what actually defines your worth? In my opinion, it’s your mindset and mentality that defines your worth. Believing in yourself and knowing yourself despite of what others think and believe of you brings such peace of mind and confidence to one self. I’ve noticed, a lot of people define their worth based on how much material they have or even how much they’ve accomplished in life, reality is none of that stuff is what defines your worth; even in death people remember how you thought of things, what humored you, and characteristics of your personality over your accomplishments. Knowing who you are, and owning that, being yourself, is what makes you so special. No single person or experience can define you, they just add more spice and seasoning to your s...

Frenemies? Eniends? Or just H8ers?

Hey Icicles,  Iceebrat here again. Today's segment? Friends who hate your guts! Often times, knowing who you are and owning it is a beautiful curse. When you attract blessings, you're also unwillingly attracting hatred and malice just for being who you are unapologetically. Being you is beautiful; others trying to replicate and compete with you on the low? Not beautiful. It doesn't matter how much you have. Your pretty face, heart of gold and wise mind is more than enough for some to develop envy toward you. Everything down to the way you style your clothes and interact with people can intimidate weak minded and insecure individuals. This is not exclusive to any gender, both genders alike have h8ers. Loving yourself comes at a high price to pay, higher than the sea level ashore on a full moon night. Never truly knowing who's there for you versus who's there for character development, and ulterior motives. People see who you are and admire that, sometimes even your ...

Break Da Icee 🤍

Hey Everyone!! It’s your favorite Icee gal from the Bronx. I decided to create this blog in order to talk about alllll the things that I don’t normally, to motivate and push others as well as myself. To show people another side of me that not many see. I never really imagined myself blogging, but I used to love writing, I love experiences, I love meeting new people and seeing new things. Often times I realize the importance in living in the moment and appreciating those little things. I’ll also be talking about milestones, amongst other dreams I have and how I plan to make them possible.  By little things, I mean very minuscule details, the smell of the brisk cold air on a fall day, when the leaves are turning colors, falling like a heavily packed taco as I walk with my burgundy sweater and ugg boots. The frost on the concrete floor as the temperature lowers, my icy fingertips as I sacrifice them to scroll on my phone.  I find beauty in poetry, laughter, and I’m startin...
