Amour Propre
Hey Icees,
I hope you all had a fabulous week! Todays blog? Self worth.
A lot goes into what makes you who you are. Your race, nationality, culture, family, genes, trauma, life experiences are all huge parts of your identity. But, what actually defines your worth? In my opinion, it’s your mindset and mentality that defines your worth. Believing in yourself and knowing yourself despite of what others think and believe of you brings such peace of mind and confidence to one self. I’ve noticed, a lot of people define their worth based on how much material they have or even how much they’ve accomplished in life, reality is none of that stuff is what defines your worth; even in death people remember how you thought of things, what humored you, and characteristics of your personality over your accomplishments. Knowing who you are, and owning that, being yourself, is what makes you so special. No single person or experience can define you, they just add more spice and seasoning to your success story. Remind yourself you’re that girl, no matter how much you have, and have confidence in who you are, your authenticity and rawness will attract more blessings and opportunities than being who you THINK people want you to be.
Comparison is truly the thief of joy. Honey, don’t you know there’s nobody who can be you? Don’t you know you’re wired so perfectly and accurately? Don’t you know you’re exactly who you’re supposed to be? You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, and you WILL become who you strive to be, as long as you work hard toward it and believe in thyself. You’re the star in your own movie, the protagonist; you’re the writer and director. You guide you, you guide others to themselves, you’re a compass in your own journey as well as others; the thrill of life carries you through the heavy forests of existence. You look in the mirror and you see bits and pieces of everything you’ve endured and conquered; you once hated it, but now you hug yourself with embracing words of courage and wisdom. You feed yourself words of positivity and reassurance, you drink pills that are hard to swallow for some. You go to the gym and you lift the world up off your shoulders, you lift the burden of self hatred; you burn off some steam and sweat out your worries. You look in the mirror again, you’ve grown; you’re no longer small, you’ve grown. Emotionally, mentally, physically, you’ve grown. You don’t recognize this new person, but then you look closer and squint, you rub your eyes. You then see her struggle, her falls, her triumphs, her healing process, you see her moving heaven and earth; you realize you love her, you care about her, you need her, you are HER.
Check out last weeks’ blog for surrounding yourself with love!
